The Students’ Union of the University of Ibadan (UI) was among the institutions of learning that benefitted from the Marcopolo bus donation by the Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Chief Jumoke Akinjide.

Chief Akinjide made the donation of the buses to four tertiary institutions in Oyo State at her empowerment programme held at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.

The motive behind this was to alleviate the suffering students encounter during the course of transporting themselves within and outside campuses, as well as to improve the welfare of students.

The four institutions that benefitted from the gesture were University of Ibadan (UI); Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso; The Polytechnic, Ibadan and Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo.

The Students’ Union President, Oluwafemi Odesola, thanked the donor for recognising one of the challenges faced by tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Odesola said the executive members of the union would discuss on how the bus would be used to ensure that every member of the union benefits in one way or the other.
