PERFORMING Arts Department of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, will induct new thespians into the theatre world on December 18, 2014.

The induction is a way of welcoming new students to the department as well as introducing them to the rudiments of theatre profession.

As an annual event on campus, its audience increases every year due to the aesthetics embedded in the major stage performances by the inductees; a skillful combination of music, dance, poetry and drama.

Till date, the induction ceremony remains the most significant event in the history of the department, as it is the only occasion that brings alumni of the department together.

In his statement, Mr Bello Idris, a public relations manager and an alumnus of the department, said “the annual induction ceremony is a very commendable initiative. It is no longer a mere annual show; it has become a culture. This is because of the commitment put into its sustenance.

“It remains remarkable because we see new performance styles every year; notable theatre celebrities do grace the occasion coupled with a loyal audience,” he said.

This year’s induction will take place on December 18 at the lecture theatre, main campus, by 12 noon.
