It was an inspiring and equally motivating moment at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) as the Junior Chambers International (JCI), Nigeria, staged its maiden edition of ‘Campus Speak 2014.’
The much-anticipated event was witnessed by many students from various universities across the state who were there to have a time out with their favourite speakers.
The event specifically aimed at moulding new generation entrepreneurs and equipping the youths with ideal leadership skills, was able to lay a solid foundation for the students on how to break the cycle of youths unemployment and contributing to economic growth of the country.
Some of the speakers at the event included Editor Africanliberty, Japhet Omojuwa; Nokia Brand Ambassador, Olushola Adewumi; poet and filmmaker, Sage Hassan; Ester and Deborah Fashion Brand, Folakemi Olajiga; West Atlantic Resource and Equity House, Adegboyega Adebajo; Kola Osinowo of Microsoft, and Tony Tetuila as the guest artiste of the day.
Olushola Adewumi took the huge crowd by suprise when he asked “How Greedy Are You?” He said, “to be greedy is to be hungry, but never to the extent of greed.” The Nokia Brand Ambassador charged the youths to live for a difference. “Go extra mile to make a difference in your individual lives. Be confident; set high goals, fuel your dream, fly the smartest, be enthusiastic, learn from mistakes and make good adequate research,” he added.
Japhet Omojuwa also urged the youths to take the bold step to success, saying: “Success absolutely has nothing to do with having, but impacting lives even in death.”
In his speech, the 29th president of JCI, Unilorin chapter, Paul Akingbola, thanked the vice-chancellor, and other principal-officers of the university for their unwavering support for the programme.
