THE management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) recently held an orientation programme for fresh students at the Ceremonial Hall of the university.
About 3,000 students gathered at the venue to be orientated about the institution by the Students Affairs Division under the direct headship of the Guidance and Counselling Unit.
The week-long event saw to the students being taken through the edges and corners of what the school does.
The students were also encouraged by the coordinators of the orientation, Mrs Ofidile and Mrs Adegbite to be worthy ambassadors of the school, stating in clear terms that FUNAAB awards certificates to her students in learning and character.
Representatives from different units of the school were present to tell the students how they could get the best out of their stay on the campus. The library unit of the school, through the librarian, related to the student on how best they could make use of the library.
The Dean of Students, Professor Yemi Akegbejo sSamson, also advised the students to stay away from any kind of vice, while he also noted that cultism is ungodly and not expected of any student in FUNAAB.
The Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies under the headship of Professor Onifade encouraged the students to be entrepreneurs and come to the centre to learn one or two vocations so as to make money and become self -employed right from school.
The Guidance and Counselling Unit did well to buttress the issue of indecent dressing while the facilitator, Mrs Ofodile, made known the kinds of clothes and hair styles that the students could wear to avoid embarrasment.
The students were also sent to their various colleges to interact with their respective Deans and Heads of Departments, while the Students Union executives were also present to meet them collectively.
