Students of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED), Oyo, have described the provost of the institution, Dr Rasaq Adefabi, as a role model whose style of leadership would transform the institution to an enviable position among its peers in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the students at the orientation programme organised for the new intakes of the college for the 2014/2015 academic session, Fasasi Omobolaji, the chairman, Students’ Union Transition Committee, lauded Dr Adefabi’s effort, regarding him as a father to them all.
According to him, the management of the institution had created a conducive teaching and learning environment for the students.
“This is a college where students and staff relationship is very cordial. The lecturers are professional teachers who are student- friendly.
“Our amiable provost, Dr Adefabi, runs an open door policy, which gives students easy access to him for interaction on issues affecting the welfare of the students.
“The college’s Students’ Union will soon come on board, as the institution is working with the Students’ Union Transition Committee to effect the commencement of student union activities on EACOED campuses in the state.
Addressing the new students, Dr Adefabi attributed the success story of the institution to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi ,who has been supporting the development of the institution since he became the governor of the state.
The provost, while he appealed to the students to face their studies and comply with the college’s rules and regulations, assured them that the institution would not relent in its efforts to provide all the resources that would boost their academic and spiritual development.
The Dean, Student Affair of the college, Dr Tajudeen Asiru stated that students orientation is an essential academic programme that every student must pass through in his or her academic life.
He added that going through the orientation programme would afford the students the opportunity to acquaint themselves with what the academic life entails on campus and how to go about their academic lives successfully. “Bad orientation brings about failure,” he said.
